On Sunday, March 3, 2002 Eleventh Avenue Church celebrated the 52nd anniversary of the church, with a special anniversary service. The day of activities included a "homecoming" that was limited somewhat by freezing temperatures and icy conditions during the weekend. Services were held at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., a noon meal, 2:00 p.m. service and 3:00 p.m. service.


Pastor R. B. Shiflet introduced the various speakers throughout the day. He has been pastor since the church had it's beginning as a home Bible study in the Earl Hardwick home in the late 1940's.

Mrs. Ruth Mason has been with the church since the beginning, and was presented a certificate noting that a tree has been planted in Isreal in honor of her 90th birthday.

Rob Shiflet, grandson of Pastor and Mrs. R. B. Shiflet, brought the message at the 10:00 a.m. service. Rob is Youth Pastor of Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Donna Newman sang a solo special number during the first service.

Earl Clark also sang a solo special number.

And, the Eleventh Avenue Church choir, under the direction of J. Lonnie Stafford, sang a song dedicated to Pastor Shiflet and the late Ethel Halford, a long-time member of the Eleventh Avenue Church family.

Charles Mays, youth pastor at Eleventh Avenue Church, brought the message for the 11:00 a.m. service.

Kate Lively, pianist at Eleventh Avenue Church, accompanied during the song service and special numbers.

And organist Vera Stilwell played the organ.

Another Shiflet grandson Rick Stilwell, led the singing for one song during the 11:00 a.m. service.

Pastor R. B. Shiflet thanked Assistant Pastor Jud Lively for his dedication to the ministry at Eleventh Avenue Church.
