News You Can Use...for Prayer
March/April 2008

Pastor
Peter Kagwi, Kenya “The churches in Kenya are currently going through
a hard time due to post-election violence. Many people have been displaced.
It has been very hard to move from one place to the other due to skirmishes
that erupted in different parts. Several places remain no-go zones. However,
we thank God that through the international mediation mission the situation
is getting back to normal. Pray that peace will be restored in our country.
We are trusting God to heal our nation from the current state of turmoil so
that we can continue to share the gospel of God’s grace to Kenyan people.
At the moment, the church services are conducted in various places, but the
attendance is low due to displacement that was caused by the election aftermath.”
Gardner & Ledith Improso The Improso’s were able to catch the last flight out of Eldoret, Kenya just as the fighting escalated. They are now in the Philippines, taking their furlough time.
Valerie
Anderson Many of you have joined Valerie Anderson in prayer to discern
God’s will for her after this year in the USA. In response, the Lord has impressed
on Valerie the importance of “being found in Him” rather than in a particular
place. In other words, she needs to be available for His purposes at all times,
no matter where she is, not just when she arrives at a special “ministry location.”
Having established that foundation, the Lord has opened the door for Valerie
to return to Turkey to resume the principalship of a school that serves international
Christian families who have come to Turkey for cross-cultural ministry. Valerie
is currently traveling through the eastern USA visiting friends and churches,
and sharing about her ministry and the urgent need for teachers at the school.
(If you are a teacher, please contact her! Email valerie@tcmusa.org). Valerie
plans to return to Turkey in June.
Joe & Michelle Campos “We finally moved to the beautiful
city of Natal two weeks ago. It was amazing to watch God work a miracle. We
sold our house in Recife and bought one in Natal for a similar price in less
than one week!! And we made it in time for our kids to start the new school
year in Natal! God is incredible!”
“Now we are between
setting up our new house and meeting people. The neighborhood to which we
moved is in a developing area, and there are no solid Bible churches yet.
Our neighbors seem very friendly. Pray that they will accept our invitation
to a Bible study at our house in a few weeks!” Their new address is:

Dean & Sheba Padayhag “We would like to share with you some of our victories, ministry plans and needs. We have been praying for God to open more doors to spread the gospel of Grace. Aside from Sunday teaching and preaching, we also have Bible Studies Fridays and Saturdays, Ministerial Advancement Program, music and computer training, visitation and counseling. What a glorious opportunity God has given to us. But He wants us to do more. Recently He opened a door for us to minister at Oxford College every other Monday. Some of our members and Bible Study attendees are teachers of this school. The owner, Mr. Moyo, wants us to visit the school more often. Please pray for the conviction and conversion of teachers and students as we continue to share the wonderful message of God’s grace. We are still looking for a new place for our church. Our current location is now in between two liquor stores. It’s getting noisy and people are afraid to come.”
Philippine Evangelism “Despite bad weather during Sinulog (Mardi-Gras) we were able to conduct two open-air meetings. This joint venture of reaching the huge crowd in Plaza Independencia was not difficult due to concerted efforts of the troops of Christians. This is how we did it. SOWERS teams did the gathering of the crowd through our attention-getting program while the rest of the brethren did the counseling. Five hundred forty-six (546) were able to hear the Gospel. Fourteen (14) of these individuals came forward during the invitation (also known as altar call) and were counseled individually. The 496 were counseled in groups by youth from CCCC. We did find time to distribute 2,000+ gospel tracts in between the open air meetings and while on our way toward the exit gate of the plaza.” Pastor Jessie Crescencio.
Luz Gaddi-uganda “In Junja, we trained teachers of an orphanage under the name A.E.O.T. Twenty -nine SS teachers and pastors attended in Bombo last January 31. The biggest attendance was in Tororo, where more than one hundred came. The church was full, so much so a long bench was broken, being overloaded. “We would have loved to ask half of them to come back two days later, but didn’t have the heart to do so. Most of them hiked five to seven miles in order to attend. After the seminar, a young man came to me and said, ‘Thank you for training us.’ Another asked me, ‘Where did you get your ideas and illustrations about children’s ministry?’ to which I replied, ‘From long experience of teaching children and training teachers.’ Was it already 40 years? It must be.”
