News You Can Use...for Prayer

November/December 2007

Welcome! Nathan and Jessica Killion of Faith Bible Church, Olney, Illinois, new TCM candidates for the Outreach into Thailand. The Killions state their goal to reach out is because “the number of people who have not yet heard the gospel constrains them to share this burden for the lost.” They are preparing to begin deputation in January. Both husband and wife took part in Africa Safari 2007 last June and felt the Lord’s call while in Kenya. Nathan also visited the Philippines on two occasions to see that field and to preach in the churches. Jessica knows about missions…her father is Tim Heath who served in the Philippines with his parents, Bill and Eunice Heath, and on the TCM board. Both Nathan and Jessica graduated from GBC before accepting the Olney church over five years ago. The Killions have three children: Matthias, Abigail and Chloe.

The Thailand Project gets started on October 29th when Nathan will join the survey trip with Ben Anderson and Genesis Maraat who is also preparing to enter this popular Buddhist nation. The survey will open doors and bridges important to starting the ministry in 2008.

Successful Conference at Kempton Park Church in South Africa. Dean and Sheba Padayhag report the attendance doubled from last year, and delegates came from all areas. Good singing, lively preaching, much cooperation made the annual conference of ABGMSA a blessing.

Philippine Church Planting includes 60 pioneering areas spread throughout the TCM Ministry Districts. 2007 is “Year One” for this three year pioneering project. This is in line with our common goal for TCM’s “Target 225 and 5K in 2010” – part of the Ten-Year Church Growth Program (2001-2010). The goal is two-fold: plant 225 new congregations and add 5000 new members to our TCM family by the end of 2010. It openly and strongly expresses the concern of the Apostle Paul to reach the lost for Christ as enunciated in 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 and Romans 9:1-4; 10:1.

Gardner Improso, Kenya “Kenya held its biennial conference last month. You should have witnessed it. This is the largest attendance we’ve witnessed in our ministry here in Kenya. One interesting thing on the last day of the conference, a pastor asked me to visit his region for evangelistic crusades during November. We can see the messages encouraged the people, as they returned home they were determined to become more involved in ministry and outreach. Nakuru church hired two matatu vans to transport their delegates. On the way back one of the vans was robbed, taking cell phones and cash from the delegates. When we dropped by on our way home to find out how we could encourage them they responded, ‘It was a very small price to pay for all the blessings we got at the conference.’ ”

Barry & Kathy Pumphrey, England - “We had two folks come to Christ recently. Lyndsey lives just across from the Church hall we use. She responded to our summer open-air outreach. She came to the Sunday services, became interested to the point that Kathy was able to lead her to Christ. She needs a lot of prayer! Also, a great experience for Kathy was when Mick knocked on our door one Monday morning and asked Kathy how he could be born again. Wow! He did accept the Lord and we hear that folks recognize that his life has changed. He is thrilled with reading his Bible and now we need to get him to come to church-more prayer needed. He has so far read right through the Bible as far as Job. He has a very interesting, but rough background but not so rough that God had given up on him.”

China Communist Party “The Communist Party of China amended its Constitution this week to include the mention of religion. It’s maybe their attempt to show the rest of the world that China is open towards those who have religious backgrounds or would like to practice their religious faith. In light of the Olympics they want to show we are a friendly nation, a country that welcomes all kinds of people from around the world. Christians are considered a positive influence in China. The government over the last 20 years has realized that. If the Christians can be good citizens, then why shouldn’t we allow them to live out their Christian faith more liberally?” -E. Burklin - Pray for TCM contacts in China.
